Student Bio: Danilo Botero Lopez is a Ph.D. student at the University of Maine. He finished his Master’s in the same university in the summer of 2020 and this fall started to pursue his Ph.D. He landed in Maine in 2018 after working in the consulting world in Colombia -his native country- for almost two years. He is very passionate about learning new things and always trying to apply his knowledge and skills to research. He finished his bachelor at the National University of Colombia, where, he had the opportunity to work with David Zapata, an old friend of his Ph.D. advisor Aaron Gallant. His focus is on the Geotechnical Engineering, particularly in the ground improvement techniques.
Thesis title: Lateral Spreading and basal stability of column supported systems
